5. Habitat Edit
The Adlet looks very much like the European Werewolf. The differance being that the remain in wolf/dog form constantly. They are covered in red fur, possessing sharp claws on both hands and feet. The snout is pronounced, with pointed ears, long tails, and yellow eyes.
They hunt in packs to overwhelm prey. The Alpha male is larger and more ferocious than the others. If the Alpha male is killed usually the pack will disperse, but this is not to be relied upon. A piercing, mournful howl marks their approach. This is used to frighten prey allowing for easier takedowns.
It is carnivoros, feeding on many different animals. They are capable of eating plantlife, but this is usually only if no other food can be found. They also have supernatural strength, agility, and endurance. Their sense are extremely acute; they are able to see in the dark. They smell prey from at least a mile away. The Adlet is practically immune to all damage made to it. The only things the Adlet fears is silver and fire. It has been speculated that decapitating an Adlet can kill the creature as well, but that would require getting close enough to do so.
The story of the Adlet begins with an Inuit folktale. In the story a girl refuses to take a husband and instead marries a dog. After which she births ten children, half are just dogs and the other half are Adlets. She places the dogs on a makeshift boat sending them across the ocean to become Europeans; while the others she takes to an island and raises them.
It is untelling if the Adlet was a creation brought by the settlers and their tells of werewolves, or if the Inuit tribes had used this story to accept the settlers. Because it's story goes from the Hudson Bay, to Canada, to Alaska, and all the way to Siberian side of the Bering Strait.
Most of the stories were written in 19th and 20th centuries. But it becomes hard to separate them from werewolf mythos.
